If one thought that little babies were not aware of their
surroundings… well it is not true. They are well aware of
all that happens around them, and also recognize all those
who belong to them closely such as their older siblings,
parents and grandparents. Put them in a new surrounding and
they would throw loud-speaker tantrums wanting to be put
back into their mother’s arms. But then, for working
mother’s there is the need of the baby-sitter, who can look
after the little one in the mother’s absence.
Some working mothers either put their babies into crèches
that professionally take care of the little one during the
working day, or then others appoint a fulltime nanny or baby
sitter. No matter how could the baby sitter or attendant is
the baby does end up crying several times during the day for
the mother and other familiar people. Sometimes they keep
weeping until they get so tired that they fall asleep.
However, in order to bring such situations under control
there are some
babysitting games
that can be played with the young ones. Color and some kind
of noise tends to distract the babies from their pining
thoughts. This is where the toys like rattlers and squeeze
toys come into play. Whenever the baby is getting even the
slightest restless the babysitter should be ready with these
toys. Either they should be played with while the baby is
lying in the crib or cradle or while carrying the young one,
the babysitter can play with the toy in the other hand.
Another problem area is feeding babies, especially those
into and post their tenth or eleventh month. Most babies
refuse to have their baby food. But then the most effective
way of feeding them is by distracting them. Sometimes
mothers play the game of feeding as though the food in the
spoon is like a airplane zooming into the mouth and the
young ones end up laughing their way through feeding time.
Narrating nursery rhymes for children and singing songs in
an animated way, which means enacting the rhymes and songs
is a kind of game for the child. They enjoy listening to the
sounds of animals parents and others make, with fingers
looking like claws heading to tickle the baby.
Babysitting activities are the easiest way to entertain
and distract the baby. It is mainly about being creative and
being observant enough to know what brings a smile to their
face. Also, do not overdo it, as the babies tend to become
bored of the same thing, too...
