In the recent years researchers and experts in the field of
education have been conducting studies to find the best
methods of teaching children. And their general findings
have proven that the play-way method for children up to the
age of six is the best way to teach children all the
concepts that form the basis for their further education.
This is because the young ones are like clay and are ready
to be molded in accordance to the method used by their
parents and teachers.
However, by continuously telling them concepts, as a method
of teaching them does not actually have them learn anything
beyond the words. The actual understanding of anything to be
taught by them is by having them use at least three of their
senses. They need to not only listen, but also see and feel
things in order to understand what is being taught to them.
They learn best in a light and playful environment where the
cause of distraction becomes the source of learning.
For instance, when teaching the parts of the body to the
child, it would be a better option to take a doll in the
hand and give the child a doll that looks the same and then
in a tuneful way point out to the different parts of the
body, and encourage the child to do so with his/her doll
simultaneously.
Essentially, child games and
cartoon characters have been
created in a way to educate children. They are colorful so
that children learn colors. The dolls are manufactured with
detailing so that they become a sort of playmate with whom
they learn, as well as also talk to. Then there are other
toys and games such as the doctor set, the kitchen set;
games like Ludo and snakes and ladders help kids practice
counting. Then there are the mind games that help the child
expand the use of their minds, as a challenge.
The games for children also include the use of puppets as a
tool. This is effective especially when teaching concepts
and ways of behavior, by using the basic method of
story-telling. Sometimes children get bored of looking at
the pictures in the book when being told a story and their
attention gets diverted. However, the use of props keeps
them attentive towards the narration.
