One day in the year that children await is their birthday. They eagerly wait for the day when they can wear a fancy new dress to school and become the centre of attention amongst all friends and teachers. As well as enjoy all he pampering at home. This, in fact, has been a tradition in almost every family to treat a birthday as a special day in the year.

For children it is a party through the day. At school there is the birthday song and distribution of sweets amongst all friends and school mates. Most teachers also make the birthday girl/boy feel special on that day. And what’s more… every classmates seeks to be with the child, who is celebrating their birthday.

The celebration is then taken home with a birthday party. This maybe with school and society friends being invited, or then something small with only the immediate family. Whatever maybe the level of celebration, one important part is the cake cutting ceremony. And children enjoy this most, especially when the shape is something different.

Today there is a such a variety of kids birthday cakes that parents are often left confused on what they can get their child. Most prefer not to ask their child their preference, as they would rather surprise them with something. These shapes include animals, super heroes, cartoon pics, as well as the photograph cakes. And no matter what that shape, they can be made into any flavor.

Usually, parents prefer to have the cake cut in school, during the day rather than have a party at home. This saves them a lot of time and effort, and most schools, permit to take sometime during the day to have a little birthday celebration, especially for children in the lower classes. Not only does the birthday girl/boy eagerly wait to see the birthday cake, but also all the friends at the party.

There is a lot of excitement amongst the kids, as the blow out the candles and cut the cake with help of some elder. The singing and clapping makes them feel very special, too. No doubt, the fancy shapes can be a little more expensive than the typical round, square or rectangular shapes, but then a birthday comes once a year, and seeing the joy and excitement on the child’s face is priceless, in front of any sum of money.

For those who prefer to celebrate with something home made, these cakes are not difficult to prepare as the molds are available in various shops. The varied food dyes can be used to make colorful fresh cream icing decoration. Only time and effort is required. And surely its all worth the smile on your child’s face when he/she cuts the surprise birthday cake.
