Today’s children are smart, intelligent and ever in the search for more excitement. Even birthday parties do not seem fun enough, unless and until the games excite them. So, parents need to be far more inventive and innovative and develop some challenging party games for the children. Well, that does not mean that the age old ones need no be a part of the party celebration.

Children s party games like passing the parcel, passing the pillow, musical arms and musical chairs are exciting and enjoyable, but largely amongst kids between the age of 4 years and 7 years. Beyond that they prefer something that challenges their mental and physical ability. The mentioned games can be a part of the overall celebration, but in addition to that there should be one or two competitions, like quizzes or some kind of talent competition.

For instance, one can organize a theme party. Take for a example the theme is clowns. Instead of having the kids dress up as clowns, they should be made to do themselves up at the party itself, and the funniest looking clown wins a prize. Along with this the children can be made to draw clowns, and play story-building with clowns as the theme. This makes for an exciting party. However, something like this is fun for children between the age of 8 years and 12 years.

If it is an outdoor party then the games could be sporting activities. These could be developed in such a way that teams are involved. The games could involve a treasure hunt, a basketball, football or throw-ball match, as well as other fun games such as dog-and-the-bone. There could be a tug-of-war, too, a game that most growing up boys enjoy a lot.

For the younger kids, those of the age of 7 years and below, the games should be simpler and more exciting. The main aspect of parties of children is to enhance in kids social skills. Beyond school the children do not get a chance to interact, but with such occasions and celebrations they meet in a fun setting. They mingle with each other and even the shy children blend into the other invitees. Bearing this in mind, one needs to accordingly plan the games and prizes.
